The “Upitty” people that go to Starbucks.

Everyone who knows me knows that I got to Starbucks a lot, definitely more than I should. The obvious reason is the price of their beverages, but you know what? I thoroughly enjoy my Cafe Vanilla Frappuccino and haven’t been able to find anything that even remotely compares to that heavily caloried goodness. Whole Milk and Whip Please!

Anyways, on to the point of this post. I have a really big peeve and that’s the comments that a lot of people like to make about the people that always go to Starbucks and won’t go to McDonald’s for a coffee-like beverages even though it’s a helluva lot cheaper.

These people like to assume that everyone who goes to Starbucks either A) has a lot money B) is “above” the cheaper coffee and the people that get that C) are stuck up because they “have money”

Now, I am definitely not saying that everyone thinks this but I do hear comments like above a lot because a ton of people see me with Starbucks, see my tweets about Starbucks, and of course when I talk and the subject comes up, I talk about Starbucks. Above are frequent comments I’ve heard in response.

Another thing I am told a lot is that I “should get a vanilla frappe from McDonald’s” for like, a dollar. That’s fabulous but you know what? I don’t like them. Sure, I’d save money but I don’t like them. I prefer Starbucks. Does that make me “rich, stuckup, and too good for everyone else”, most definitely not. I also prefer 7-11‘s French Vanilla Cappuccino’s over Starbucks’, does that make me cheap? No.

Stop hatin against Starbucks and the people that prefer it! It’s not cool!

I moved from the East Coast, where in my opinion at least, Dunkin Donuts was a viable option if I just wanted a cup of coffee (and if it was closer in walking distance than a Starbucks). I would consider it because I liked it, and sometimes, I just wanted a Great One, 24 oz of light and sweet DD coffee. Other times, I wanted a Mocha, and no matter how many people told me to try a Dunkaccino, it didn’t matter. I wanted a Mocha. From Starbucks.

(Now, I miss DD! Not because it was cheaper, but because that Great One was so styrofoamy and warm on a cold platform waiting for a train . . . mmmm)

I don’t splurge on too many things, and I’m not made of money (I’m a teacher!), but I get Starbucks because I like it. Maybe we should start pointing out people’s cigarettes, and tell them it’s cheaper to suck on their exhaust pipe. Oh, and maybe we can invite people with really good taste in shoes to shop some place else because after all, the shoes are just going to touch the ground and who’s looking down? Paying for movie tickets? It’ll be on cable in like three months, Moneybags. Or maybe, we just leave people alone and not judge them on their four dollar gifts to themselves.

Thanks! That was cathartic. Years of hating on Starbucks drinkers just caught up with me!

@Michelle B., haha. Yeah. We all have our vices. I just hate hearing that “You could have gone [insert cheaper place here] for [insert product here]” I definitely appreciate opinions on where to by stuff cheaper, because saving money is DEFINITELY AWESOME, but when it comes to some things, I just don’t want to sacrifice my love for {insert brand here]’s product for a cheaper price.

I’ll definitely try said cheapers brand, if I like it, definite win. If I don’t, stop picking on me! LoL.

Also, LOVE the saving on cigarettes idea! Same amount of poison, I’d say.

Oh, and I did go out and buy a Frappuccino maker so I can make my own. It definitely doesn’t taste the same, but I’ve gotten used to it. Now I switch it up between mine fraps and Starbucks.
